Our Story
Climetric was founded end of 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa, by Dolf and Etienne with the aim of supporting South African businesses and home owners in their drive towards energy self-sufficiency, sustainability and comfort in a cost efficient way. Dolf and Etienne recognised how parametric modelling could lead to buildings with far superior performance in terms of comfort, sustainability and costs. In the early years, Climetric developed its algorithms to service a wide range of buildings, from offices, Universities, to hotels, eco-resorts and homes. In 2020, Dolf returned to the Netherlands and started servicing the European market. The exposure to different markets has helped expand the toolkit of sustainability measures, ultimately providing Climetric and their clients with more ways to optimise the sustainability designs. As a result, Climetric is now geared to service a wide range of buildings, both new build and renovation, with a wide toolkit of sustainability measures and an intelligent algorithm that enables us to find the best design amongst thousands of alternative designs.
Our Ambition
It is our ambition to find the optimal path of making your building sustainable and comfortable. That optimal path may look very different for each building, depending on the characteristics of the building, its surroundings and personal preferences. The key to finding the optimal path is making informed decisions, based on key insights on what the impact of a decision is on the performance of your building. Our algorithms are geared towards providing you with the right insights so that you can make those decisions. And our team of experts are eager and passionate to support!

Etienne voltooide zijn opleiding 'Industrial Engineering' in 2005 aan de Universiteit van Stellenbosch, Zuid-Afrika. Hij startte zijn loopbaan bij PJCarew Consulting, een adviesbureau in Kaapstad gespecialiseerd in passief en energiezuinig gebouwontwerp. Etienne ontwikkelde daar analyse- en rekentools die ondersteunden in de besluitvorming rondom water, klimaat, energie en daglicht. Daarnaast werkte hij o.a. aan Green Star-certificeringen, maakte energiemodellen voor inzending bij vergunningstrajecten en verrichte projectmanagement.

Etienne heeft in 2015 Susti gestart, een bedrijf gespecialiseerd in het modelleren van het rationeel gebouwontwerp voor de Zuid-Afrikaanse SANS XA. Vervolgens is Susti in 2018 gefuseerd met Climetric. Etienne is gevestigd in Kaapstad, Zuid-Afrika. Vanuit deze locatie werkt hij aan lokale projecten en ondersteunt hij Europese projecten.

Dolf heeft in 2012 zijn Master aan de Universiteit van Eindhoven afgerond. Hij studeerde daar 'Physics of the Built Environment', ook wel Bouwfyisica. Na zijn opleiding is Dolf gaan werken bij Imtech Building Services. Bij dit aannemersbedrijf voor technische installaties heeft Dolf zich gespecialiseerd in complexe dynamische systemen. In 2015 is Dolf naar Zuid-Afrika verhuisd om te gaan werken bij PJCarew Consulting. Als Green Building Consultant had Dolf de leiding over een ontwerpteam met de focus op passief en energiezuinig ontwerp. Daarmee heeft hij duurzame en efficiënte systemen verwezenlijkt voor verschillende projecten in zowel Zuid-Afrika als Nederland.
Eind 2018, verliet Dolf PJC om Climetric BV te starten. Na 1,5 jaar ondernemerschap is Dolf terug verhuisd naar Nederland. Sinds begin 2020 werkt hij daar aan de verdere groei van het bedrijf met lokale projecten en de ondersteuning van Zuid-Afrikaanse projecten op afstand.
